Should You Grow An Email List?
If you are just starting your business, you may be silently asking, " Should I start & grow an email list for my business right now?"
In this week's training we will cover,
Is Growing An Email List Important?
Here at Passion Profit CEO, our answer is, "YES, it is important to grow an email list."
Why?
Because as an online business owner the only "real estate" you own is your downloaded contact files of your email list, the BACKUP file of your website, social media follower names, etc.
If for some reason the platforms you use were to crash & delete everything, all you have is your downloaded copies to continue working your business from. You could then rebuild if the crash isn't fixed or start over on another platform.
So, YES! It's very important to have an email list or contact information within reach at all times of the people who are in your audience (warm & hot markets).
But is growing an email list important for your business right now?
That depends on YOU & your business.
Do you like email?
Is this where you want to spend your time in your business?
Does it make sense for your sales conversion system?
Growing an email list is not nearly as important as consistently growing your lead list.
What's most important even if you are starting your business, is that you have contact information & know who you need to talk to & when you need to follow back up with them to move them through your client pathway. This is why the most important list to have is a CRM - Client Relationship Management list.
When To Start An Email List
Most small businesses start an email list when they start their company & begin getting their business plan in place even if they don't use it as a part of their conversion system in that moment.
They do this because they have that list as a backup in the event they ever need it.
However, others choose to start their list once their lead & CRM list becomes overwhelming needing a more efficient strategy to stay connected with their audience versus 1:1 conversations.
At this point they may not like email but will have the profits to be able to invest into hiring a team member to manage this part of their business.
The best time to start & consistently grow your email list is once you have your business plan, have legalized your business, & formed your website. Then you can set up your professional email address so that you can effectively set up your email marketing software & have a plan for growing & utilizing your list.
Additionally, it's wisest to incorporate your email list when that strategy is most effective for your business to communicate with your audience & makes sense for your conversion system in your business plan.
How To Start An Email List
Once you are ready to start an your list there are a few steps you have to take.
I personally recommend Mailerlite for startup businesses because it is easy to learn how to navigate + create campaigns & automations for beginners.
Conclusion
It is wise to have an email list whether it only be for backup purposes or as a main element in your client conversion system. Don't forget to consistently download your CSV file of your email list to always have an updated copy of your email subscribers. Just in case.
